Andrés Vesalius Andreas Vesalius or is the Latin form of the name Andries van Wesel (1514-1564), Flemish anatomist, author of one of the most influential books on human anatomy, De humani corporis fabrica (On the structure of the human body). His anatomical studies based on direct observation, rejecting some anatomical errors present in the work of Galen, for what is considered the founder of modern anatomy.
