Lesson Learned: Recovering SharePoint from 2 versions of a database

Scenario:

It has 2 versions of the same database at different times and need to unify this information into one.

Within a SharePoint farm is stored a unique ID for each site collection, so that can not hold even if on different Web Applications and Databases the same site collection.

Solution:

This requires creating a new SharePoint farm to another server and there to add the other version of database content.

Then use stsadm.exe-o export or Content Deployment Wizard is a free tool to create tablets (CMP) of the content you want to migrate to another database.

Note: You must have twice the space to migrate content. And in the operating system drive at least the size of what you want to migrate because the tablet needs to create enough space to create temporary files.

As this server is temporarily not partition installation on multiple disks is better to have a single unit of a good size double or triple the content that migration is both the origin and destination (resources sometimes difficult to achieve) .

For SharePoint 2010 we have much more power and options can line through command either by using stsadm or cmdlet to export a library or list, we can restore a database that is not attached to the farm so it is only necessary that this attachment to a SQL Server server. More information here

Error recurring meetings 'g_instanceId' is undefined after the Migration to SharePoint 2010

The problem is when trying to click on a different date within a site of meetings, nothing happens:

image

Looking at the status bar of your browser will display an error message: Message

'g_instanceId' is
undefined Line: 1 Char
: 148689
Code: 0
URI: http://servername/_layouts/3082/core.js?rev=XoZSnf% 2FMIVMVlTAuLdeLtA% 3D% 3D

This problem its solution is well documented for many post and forums for 2007 and some 2010. below shows one of the links that show the solution for 2010, basically we need to add the reference to the master page Meetings of the assembly and add a label or tag that enables PropertyBag .

http://www.estruyf.be/blog/fix-v4-master-recurring-meeting-workspace-error-% E2% 80% 98g_instanceid% E2% 80% 99-is-undefined /

The this issue is to have used the custom master page and not the famous publication MWSDefault.master outset in 2007, but as we say in my land: a blow and there is removed, ie we must now address the problem and solve it .

For my case despite the changes made did not work. I had to activate the feature or the publishing infrastructure feature on the site that had the problem and that was kind of meetings or Meetting Area Workspace.

select the master page you use for adding others as indicated in the article. And it all started to work.

Strangely just did for a site and others and did not report the problem. So do not be a problem if it was expected that the changes will affect other sites or this last I did, but let's record more than one procedure can be used.

For this procedure I suggest you install SharePoint Designer 2010 is a free tool specifically designed to customize SharePoint 2010.

After installing SharePoint Designer will open the browser on the site and authenticate with an account with administrator privileges. Select Site Actions and Edit from SharePoint Designer.

After opening SharePoint Designer click on homepages or Master Page, select the master page in use and carefully search for the word: NavLinkViewAllV4. Outside of the link add the tag \u0026lt;Sharepoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl>

and then do not forget to close \u0026lt;/ Sharepoint: SPSecurityTrimmedControl>

How can I customize the master page of a site area Meeting (Meeting Workspace) for SharePoint 2010 PerformancePoint

Incredibly this simple procedure is poorly documented on the Web and SharePoint 2010 is much easier than it can be estimated, thanks to our friend we can make SharePoint Designer this task quickly and easily.

This procedure will need to have SharePoint Designer installed on your computer or server if you plan to make modifications from there. For if you do not know what SharePoint Designer is free and you can download it here (eye version 64 or 32 bits must be selected depending on where it will run).

Onsite: Area Meetings should select Site Actions, then Edit in SharePoint Designer.

image

Then select Home (English version) or Master Page (English version).

image

Then select the master page MWSDefaultV4.master. That is the master page for the Meeting Workspace site.

image

Important: Sometimes if you select the feature or feature Posted used v4.master page. (If there's no effect MWSDefaultV4.master try the V4.master)

Then select Create File or Edit File.

image

then customize the master page, for this example just replace the default image.

image Finally save

changes.

image

then displays a warning about the changes, just click Yes or Yes button.

image

Close SharePoint Designer and on the page, press Ctrl + F5 to refresh the page removed the cache of it and ready the changes have been made.

image

Then you need to create a template just go to Site Settings and select the option to save the site as a template that will be ready.

Well folks I hope they serve and have saved a lot of time online researching this topic.

Maximum length of file, folder and url in SharePoint 2010

is important to know the limitations of the technologies used by SharePoint 2010 as this will help us to better plan the names we choose and define the structure for files, folders and sites within

Microsoft SharePoint 2010 in his article: Restrictions URL path length (SharePoint Server 2010) , describes these limitations of managing url and filenames.

To summarize I point out the following:

Maximum size of file or folder name 128. Maximum size

URL

complete without parameters 260 characters.

And the maximum size of URL parameters including browsers varies between 7 and 8 we can talk from 1024 to 2048 respectively.

So we must plan effectively based on the browser we will use the structure of sites and their names because they only have 260 characters or fewer, and in the library can grow up to 2048 total characters in the URL if using IE 8. For if you have not noticed when you define a folder or set of them into a SharePoint library as these parameters are and are not part of the URL Path.

important thing with this plan is to use as little as possible in the URL characters that add more characters to be encoded as spaces and these others! ", #, $,%, &.

So now you know you plan While the file and folder names and structures of their sites

Staci Diamond Is A Whore

SharePoint 2010: Did you know every personal site is actually a collection of sites? Relay Race

SharePoint legendarily from the 2007 version has the ability to create a personal site for each user within the portal is an option may or may not be enabled. But even if one thinks of a site as such, it is actually a collection of sites which means that it can be completely private and outside the portal in general as a site collection user defines a boundary , groups, permissions and even features.

If you've gotten to review these "sites" personal'll not have available all the elements of the Web portal as this "site" is based on a site template designed for individuals with some level of collaboration.

Suppose a scenario where you have a portal with 10.000 users then you should plan to have 10,000 site collections within the database My Sites and My Sites.

Because this is important, as recommended by Microsoft in the ability of site collections per content database is recommended 5.000 and 2.000. Not to say that is the limit but as explained is that performance and the space occupied by this value may vary and will clearly affect the performance.

To learn more about the capabilities of SharePoint 2010 refer to the following address: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262787.aspx # sitecollection

Places To Jerk Off In Nnj

or Configuring Kerberos in SharePoint 2010

This article is a summary of the Guide to configure Kerberos provided by Microsoft for SharePoint 2010 is not intended to replace but to give an overview and an understanding of what will be done. The detail of each step is on the phone at the following address:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=1a794fb5-77d0-475c-8738-ea04d3de1147&displaylang = in

Before setting Kerberos must understand how it works and integrates with the different services.

Kerberos is a security protocol that supports authentication by labeling.

This security protocol is needed in SharePoint 2010 when we want to connect to an external data source is required to pass user credentials to connect to the portal. For a better understanding look at the following:

image

As shown in figure up the credentials are stored in SharePoint as a Claim, it is then necessary to convert back into a Kerberos ticket to authenticate to an external system.

Kerberos is associated with a domain account or accounts as a service to use. This is done by creating a Service Principal Name SPN or in command line on a server running Windows Server 2008 than the domain controller as shown below:

SetSPN -S HTTP / Portal [account domain]

delegation also need an account or otherwise transfer the ticket that carries the user's credentials. As pictured below.

image

The delegation do this through Active Directory. For accounts that are associated with the SPN in Active Directory on the account properties will see a tab called Delegation, it will allow us to select what services are associated with the account.

image

in SharePoint as the first step is to enable the Kerberos protocol to authenticate to the portal to generate the ticket.

image

then have to sign the bills that have generated the SPN as a managed account (an old concept in SharePoint but becomes relevant in 2010) and then associate this account to a SharePoint service will use the ticket generated for or pass the credentials to authenticate the user.

image

There are certain services associated with SharePoint to use Kerberos Delegation Basic other Kerberos constrained delegation. The rule is that if you can move from a basic to a constrarined delegation but not the reverse. The services required are constrained Kerberos delegation are:

· Excel Services

· PerformancePoint

· InfoPath Forms Services Services Services

· Visio

The Basic require Kerberos delegation are: • Business

service and Microsoft Data Connectivity Business Connectivity Services Access Services

·

• Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

• Microsoft Project Server 2010

The important difference between these two systems of delegation to the intervention of a service call or Claims C2WTS to Windows Token Service. The image below clearly shows what should happen.

image

In short we need to configure Kerberos for:

1. Authenticated site.

2. To pass the C2WTS Ticket Service.

3. To the SharePoint and pass the required credentials for example Performance Point and Excel Services.

4. The service account that starts the external data source, for example R2 SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services or Database Engine or both.

required for this purpose these Windows accounts associate the SPN to them, delegate through Active Directory, configure SharePoint and configure accounts and attach them to the required services.

Tip go testing as suggested by the guide every step to ensure you have done the correct procedure. There are times that Kerberos does not authenticate after recently set up a service, sometimes re-registering the account with the service and restarting it works or well as a last resort restart the SharePoint server or the server that you are setting up the account you wish to use Kerberos.

Does Any Stores Offer Layaway?

Comments on the integration of Reporting Services and SharePoint 2010

options to integrate SharePoint 2010 and Reporting Services depend on the configuration of servers, the easiest that requires no further intervention on a single server, but when it comes to more than one there various configurations.

I was struck by the configuration of 2 servers is one of the most common plants in our customers. That there are 2 variants show them the picture below:

Bb677365_Rs_sharepointRScompdesc_multiple2srv_example2(en-us,SQL_105)

Image obtained from technet

With this setup you must install SharePoint on both servers. First configure the SharePoint farm and then install the database server as Report Server requires SharePoint object model at hand.

When running SharePoint 2010 Wizard you indicate that you are connecting to an existing farm and do not need the Central Administration. If you have already installed it does not affect you but I recommend you uninstall it because you're not going to use, for that you must run the wizard again and tell SharePoint that want to stay connected to the farm but do not want to host the Central Administration on this computer.

The second configuration was the one that caught my attention, I show below:

Bb677365_sharepointRScompdesc_multiple(en-us,SQL_105)

Image obtained from technet

This not install Reporting Services on the server database, but in the Front End Server or Face and then you need not install SharePoint Server 2010 in database since you need the SharePoint OM is the Report Server.

For licensing depending on the version of SQL Server uses the server database and SharePoint in the Front End server you agree that you are using one or the other. Since SharePoint 2010 under its prices the core but Calls increase in value and the value of the Core of Sql Server 2008 R2 Enterprise is far more expensive than SharePoint 2010 Core Enterprise, so you must play with your versions and numbers and see which suits you more. You have to ask a Microsoft Authorized Reseller prices because they are public and you can get incorrect information in the network.

Sapphire On I Love Money

Two important aspects to consider in Custom SharePoint Timer Job 2010

Apparently Visual Studio 2010 has done a good job to automate the installation and deployment process when developing components for SharePoint 2010, Web elements, "Timer Jobs", etc. . So good work that developers have not developed to SP 2007 does not know that installing the Timer Job manually on the server production is necessary to enable the "feature" in the Site Collection (Assuming the defined scope of the "feature" is equivalent to a Site Collection Sites). Otherwise though this installed, and implemented the "Timer Job" will not appear on the "Central Administration" SharePoint 2010, Monitoring section or "Monitoring".

But when we try to activate happen that will indicate an error when checking SharePoint USLogs read the description of Access Denied Event ID: 6615. But do not worry our friend Paul Kotlayr to resolve the problem by running a script level SharePoint Power Shell 2010.

Here is the link: http://unclepaul84.blogspot.com/2010/06/sppersistedobject-xxxxxxxxxxx-could-not.html

So do not forget to enable the "feature" in the collection of sites that want run and run the script from Paul to remove access denied error even though you do with the Farm Administrator will not allow you to run but RemoteAdministratorAccessDenied change the value to false.

Until next time, SharePoint20104Fun!, Manolo Herrera
